New Trade Protection for Skins

Valve's New Protection Mechanism for CS2 Skins
According to Gabe Follower, a well-known CS2 data-miner, Valve is planning to introduce a new protection layer for CS2 skins. This feature, called Trade Protection, might prevent users from trading or modifying skins for a certain period after acquiring them.
Existing Protection Measures
1. Trade Lock
Valve already has a Trade Lock system in place, which temporarily locks items for a period (usually 7 days) after acquisition. This ensures players have time to verify the legitimacy of their items.
2. Steam Market Restrictions
Steam Market restrictions include price checks and confirmations to prevent fraudulent transactions. Players are also encouraged to use the Steam Guard mobile authenticator for secure trades.
3. Scammer Prevention and Reporting
Valve has robust systems for detecting and penalizing scammers. Players can report suspicious activities, and Valve investigates and enforces penalties, including account bans.
4. Escrow System
The Escrow System holds items in a neutral status during trades, reducing the risk of scams. Both parties must confirm the transaction before it is finalized.
These measures aim to provide players with peace of mind and protect their in-game items from theft and fraud.
